Diwali, or Deepawali, is India's biggest and most important festival celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists, notably Newar Buddhists. The festival usually lasts five days and is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika.
Deepawali is the celebration of the victory of Lord Ram over Ravan. It is a day when Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman are returned to Ayodhya after spending 14 years in exhile.



The festival is celebrated five-day long originated in the Indian subcontinent.

Day 1: Dhanteras, Dhanatrayodashi, Yama Deepam
Day 2: Naraka Chaturdashi, Kali Chaudas, Chhoti Diwali, Hanuman Puja, Roop Chaudas, Yama
Day 3: Lakshmi Pujan, Kali Puja
Day 4: Annakut, Balipratipada (Padwa), Govardhan Puja
Day 5: Bhai Duj, Bhau-Beej


The main day of the festival of Deepawali(the day of Lakshmi Puja) is an official holiday in Fiji, Guyana, India, Malaysia, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
